Kate and Simon’s Wedding at Pit’s Kitchen Venue, Mangawhai Heads
With magnificent ocean and the sand dune view from Pit’s Kitchen with a very large deck area including an outdoor fireplace, Kate decided to have her wedding reception at Pit’s Kitchen Wellness venue in Mangawhai Heads.
We served stunning grazing boards to start with when guests arrived from the ceremony at the beach.
Kate and her family love cheese so we provided cheese boards with organic dried fruits, fresh seasonal fruit, organic & homemade dips, rice paper rolls with some delicious beetroot salmon gravlax.
Once everyone was settled with drinks in their hands, we started passing around the wholesome grazing platters, followed by supper and salad as well as the wedding cake. The groom had their espresso martini on demand, it turned out to be very popular drinks of the night.
The crowd was amazing and the music was phenomenal for all ages that Pit had to ask for the playlist!

Rick and Zoe's Wedding
Casual Buffet Style
Rick and Zoe wanted a low key casual buffet style meal. It was a beautiful fine day after a week of heavy rain. We served chicken, salmon, vegetarian curry, asian slaw, some beautiful green salad and mediterranean potato salad with crispy bacon. Check out the comments on the review page. We loved being a part of their special day.
Sarah and Andrew's wedding
Family Sharing Style
Sarah and Andrew chose a family sharing style dinner. This style is particularly popular for less formal occasions and it can suit small to medium size groups. The whole setting was beautiful and everyone was happy and chatting over their delicious meals. We served three light canapés after the ceremony followed by shared starters and mains. We also served margaritas and G&Ts for guests who weren't so keen on wine or beer! It was one of our favourite functions we catered for in 2018. Delicious desserts including raw vegan cheesecake was displayed on dessert table for guests to help themselves.
Light Christmas Grazing table
Grazing Style
I was honoured enough to be asked to create and display this mouthwatering light christmas grazing table for Junction Magazine. I created three dips, garlic and chilli prawns, delicious whitebait fritters with tartare sauce, and sesame crusted grilled yellow fin tuna with green tea soba noodles. Delicious!
Amy and Carl's wedding
Formal Sit-down Table Service Style
Amy and Carl opted for a traditional sit down dinner for their intimate wedding. The guests chose their starters and mains around a month or so prior to the couple's big day. We served sesame falafels with turmeric hummus and poached black tiger prawns with tamarind dressing for starters, followed by a choice of delicious mains - eye fillet with kumara mash and mixed mushroom salad, lemongrass chicken with black rice, and yam noodles with Kombu stock with silky agedashi tofu. Dessert was on a dessert bar for guests to help themselves.
Ange and peter's wedding
Grazing Style with supper and dessert bar
Ange and Peter are a young fun loving couple who wanted a super casual wedding with no fuss. They wanted guests to mingle, getting to know each other while having fun at their reception. We provided grazing platters that were passed around with continuous food flowing for around three hours. We served prawns, lamb, sirloin steaks and some roasted baby carrots on wooden platters. We finished it off with a supper bar of glazed ham on the bone, gorgeous fresh mixed salad with edible flowers and variety of mixed breads. The organic dessert bar and a wedding cheesecake topped off the evening. We loved how the guests were so relaxed and had a wonderful time at the reception.
Kids cooking class
We teach kids food hygiene, cross-contamination, healthy eating and the truth about processed food and sugar as well as getting them involved in the kitchen. We want kids to develop the love of and confidence of being in the kitchen and preparing food either by themselves or with their family members.
Katy Carty birthday celebration
Family Sharing and Table Service Style - Whole food
Beautiful Katy celebrated her special birthday in style at Pit's Kitchen in Mangawhai. The venue is perfect for an intimate party with a 180 degree Pacific ocean view as a backdrop. Katy is a whole food cook herself and so helped create the perfect menu for her party. We served gluten-free and wholesome shared starters on wooden boards for everyone to enjoy. The wholesome mains were served individually. We loved the vibe and the positive energy from those beautiful souls at her party.
